A special winter visitor at Fox Field Farm 🦉❄️This barred owl stopped by to hunt in the snow. What a perfect example of how important these birds are to our farm ecosystem. Barred owls primarily feed on small mammals like mice and voles, using their incredible hearing to locate prey even beneath snow cover. That heart shaped face isn’t just beautiful, it helps funnel sound directly to their ears with remarkable precision. They’re most active at dusk and overnight, so spotting one during the day is a special treat! Healthy owl populations are a sign of a balanced environment, and we’re grateful to share our fields with them.Nature working exactly as it should 🤍#FoxFieldFarm #BarredOwl #FarmEcosystem #PrinceEdwardCounty #WildlifeOnTheFarm SustainableFarming ...
